Sunny Days In-Home Care, a proud member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania regional community, is honored to have been recently featured in The Almanac for a program that is close to our hearts.
Almanac reporter Harry Funk interviewed Sunny Days Director of Communications Ashley Bennett about our Thanksgiving dinner program for clients in need. Last year, our managers delivered turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables and cranberry sauce to 20 clients, and this year, we’ll hand-deliver 30 meals.
“Each of our managers chose three of their clients who would be the most thankful and deserving,” Bennett told The Almanac.
Funk also interviewed Sunny Days President David Ellenwood, who delved more into how the program reflects the company’s mission of in-home care service.
“We’ll try to take care of people who don’t have families, or the families are out of town, or the families aren’t involved,” Ellenwood told The Almanac.
As the newspaper reported, Ellenwood and his wife, Evelyn, founded Sunny Days six years ago to provide personal-needs care for senior citizens and people with disabilities, and alleviating worry for people who are caring for elderly parents.
“The growth is crazy, with the number of baby boomers turning 65 every day and going out for the next 20 years,” Ellenwood told The Almanac. “The need is incredible!”
The Almanac also noted Sunny Days’ designation in Inc. Magazine’s Inc. 5000 list as the No. 1 nationally among the fastest-growing home health companies.
“We’re moving up. We’re expanding. We’re doing the things we have to do, and I think that all ties in to us giving back. I think the two go hand-in-hand,” Ellenwood told Funk.
